Willow Raine: My chosen name, and I refuse to answer to any other, for many reasons, one of the main ones? Willows are very resilient, and the roots are remarkable for their toughness, size, and tenacity. That being said, please allow me to tell you first about me, and my writers who are as much of the heart of this site as I am, then about my site, so you know where I’m coming from.
I’ve danced in hard rain, weathered tumultuous storms that left me bruised, battered, but never broken. I stand before you, wise beyond my years, made who I am by life’s trials, and I make no apologies, nor excuses. Ultimately my goal is to be the change I wish to see in this world. Crazy? Probably. But hell, you have to be crazy so that you can survive the circumstances that are tossed at you in this turbulent sea of existence. Impossible? I don’t think so. Though I don’t think much is impossible, improbable perhaps. I’ve always believed that if you can dream it, you can do it. (Well unless you’re referring to licking your elbow. Unless you’re a contortionist, probably NOT going to happen) But I digress. I’m strong willed, very opinionated, yet open minded. I love a good debate, writing is my passion. Nothing inspires that all consuming fire in me, that white hot longing, the way that writing does. So, then I realized, that if I am going to make a change in this world, or if I am to only make an impact on ONE person, than it will be through my writing. The only gift that I have to give of myself.

Spider: I’ve known Spider since we were 12 years old, give or take, so for a minute or so ;)
She’s my political, activist, “Hipsy” (Hippie and Gypsy) writer.
More than likely, all of our political soap boxes will come from her, because she’s informed, passionate and damn good with them.
Having been through so much shit in this life (no nicer word is appropriate, believe me), it has made her very adamant about standing up for what she believes in. I’m glad she finally has a place she can do that and be seen. Here. I’m proud to have her on board.

Jodie Platz: This girl has been kicking ass and taking names for 24 years. She’s my pop culture writer, I think, though you’re liable to read posts from her on a majority of topics.
Ever supportive of my soap boxes, I hope that she feels comfortable enough here to stretch her legs, take off her shoes and stay for a while. I’m lucky to have her.

Damij:: What can I say about Damij? We’ve known each other forever, I just pulled him on board recently, and was pleasantly surprised when he agreed with minimal threatening involving duct tape.
He brings the serious posts, twisted with his wit and humor. He definitely has a different perspective of the world, and I, for one, love it. I’m so glad that he’s joined the WASC family.

Now, as for the site. It’s a little more complex, yet a lot more simple.
I know, contradictory, but perhaps you’ll understand after I explain it a bit more.
My entire life, I have always been, and by token WANTED to be the rescuer. The one that took care of everyone, and tried to kiss every boo boo on anyone that was injured. Never once did I think I was any different than anyone else, and essentially, I still don’t.
I KNOW, deep down, as silly as it may sound, that people aren’t all apathetic. They DO care, but you just have to make them stop and listen. To stop and pay attention to what you’re saying.
The problem is that humanity, as a whole, is a lot more desensitized thanks to the impact of society, and the media.
WE chose to undertake the privilege of getting people to stop, to listen, to care.
If we only make a difference to ONE person, if we ONLY change ONE person’s mentality, even on some minute scale, then we feel as if we have accomplished something amazing.
